Dear SPARK families,
Thank you all for your support as we continue to make improvements to our arrival and dismissal processes. If you ever have questions about the process or ideas for improvement, please send them to Brian.Vannest@yesprep.orgme, Brian.Vannest@yesprep.org and Crystal Lee (cl04@yesprep.org) our DCO.
In the coming week, we are excited to welcome families for Coffee with the Principals next Friday 9/5.
Shout out to all of your students who are busy taking their Beginning of Year MAP tests and other assessments. We are using those assessment results this week and next to generate goals for every student. It’s going to be a beautiful year of learning!
Sincerely,
Brian Vannest

We value our sparks sense of belonging and their celebration of life. Here is more information about celebrating birthdays at Yes Prep East End.
Birthday Celebrations
YES Prep East End Elementary staff members look forward to celebrating each child’s special day with them and their classmates. To minimize disruption to instruction, families must follow the birthday guidelines below:
-
Birthday celebrations in the classroom will ONLY take place on Fridays.
-
Birthday celebrations will start at 2:30 PM and should end by 2:55 PM to ensure safe dismissal procedures. During Friday’s early dismissal there will be no birthday celebrations. These celebrations will be moved to the prior Thursday.
-
Birthday treats must be store bought. Food made at home may NOT be distributed. Birthday treats must be dropped off at the front office on Fridays no later than 2:00 PM. The campus Front Office will deliver birthday treats to classrooms by 2:20 PM, which is the time the classroom teacher and classmates will celebrate the child’s birthday.
-
Families are encouraged to bring individual servings such as cupcakes or cookies; whole cakes or cookie cakes are not allowed.
-
Guardians are welcome to come and read to their child’s class on their child’s birthday from 7:30 to 7:50AM. Parents should contact the child’s teacher to sign up at least one week prior to the child’s birthday.

Student Assistance Form
If concerns arise for your student in mental health, relational aggression or bullying, family or home life concerns, behavioral concerns, academic struggles, financial hardship, homelessness, and truancy you can click the link below or scan the QR code to submit a referral.

Hello Spark Families,
This week our special education students and 504 students have been testing in small groups with our inclusion teachers. Our inclusion staff has been monitoring assessments and ensuring that our students receive their accommodation(s) in accordance with their IEP or 504 plans.
If you have a concern regarding your little Sparks academic progress or behavior. Please reach out if you would like to initiate an evaluation for special education or 504. An evaluation does not automatically translate to services or accommodations in special education or a 504 plan but if your scholar meets criteria for 504 or special education the campus will implement a plan to best support your student.
Thank you and have a great weekend,
Kestenbaum
